Bucky Cap

I could NEVER wear Steve’s uniform. I’m not him and I won’t pretend I am. … Just cause I’m not him doesn’t mean I can’t honor his memory.

3. What was your most technically difficult cosplay to make? Why?

I haven’t made most of my own stuff (I usually commission it out to more talented people) though I’m pushing myself to make more of my own stuff in the future. The most difficult piece I’ve done was my Teen Titans Animated Series Speedy vest for SDCC 2010.  It was the first, and still the most complicated piece I’ve done.

8. Favorite prop? Least favorite prop?

Oh, it has to be my M1A1 Thompson for Bucky. I love that piece. It’s a really high-end (and heavy) airsoft gun that I managed to snag refurbished online.  I’ll be wearing Bucky without it for the first time this weekend, and I have a feeling I’m going to feel very naked.

13. Your favorite group cosplay? Why?

Hmm, I haven’t done a lot of planned groups (though there are the planned photoshoots at D*C every year).  But my favorite would have to be the Bat Characters group at BCC 2012.  We had planned to have a whole huge group, and all sort of got separated, so it was really just Sawyer, Hannah, and myself as Riddler, Batgirl, and Robin respectively.  But it was a lot of fun, and it was Hannah and Sawyer’s first con!

How about 1, 5, and 10?

Dammit, while I guess I’m retyping this then (fuck Safari).

1) What was your first cosplay, and when did you wear it? Pics?

It depends what we’re calling my first costume. Technically I guess it was the “made in an hour before we left for the theater” cardboard Iron Man helmet I made for the Iron Man premiere in 2008:

Though I’d really say that my first costume was Rorschach, as it was the first one I spent more than a day or two on, and was also my first costume worn to a con (SDCC 2009).  Picture is from the Watchmen movie premiere:

5. What is your favorite costume to wear? Your least favorite?

Favorite costume would have to be Bucky. The costume itself isn’t perfect, but he’s my all-time favorite character, and he’s the one I feel I portray the best.  As for least favorite, I’d have said Larfleeze (that thing was a sauna!) but I don’t have it anymore, just sold it to Panda, to turn into “Sexyfleeze.” So instead I’m going to go with Speedy.  I love Roy Harper, but I don’t think either of my Speedy costumes have worked well. I don’t know if it’s me or the costume designs, but I haven’t been happy with how either one has looked. Not sure if I’m going to try again or wait and just jump to Arsenal.

10. Describe your favorite/best cosplay experience.

Hmm… I’m not sure. Most rewarding? Definitely some of the kids’ reactions I’ve gotten. There’s nothing better than when a kid gets to “meet” their hero.  These two especially come to mind-

Happy Birthday America!

Love,
Cap and Bucky

Hmm, so since Spidey apparently won’t be here in time for SDCC, I’m trying to decide what should replace it- bring back Bucky or try and put together a last minute Fantastic Bagman….
